At the tip of the Thumb

Pointe Aux Barques Lighthouse and Lifesaving Station.  Not only was this a beckon for ships but the strong west wind made it a perilous journey for ships leaving the St Clair waterway and heading westerly to transport minerals and timber.  Station built in 1847 and decommissioned in 1934.

Stairs to the top!
